Federation Cottage Renovation

This Mayfield property started life as a weatherboard miners cottage. The kind of cottage that's been a fixture on Newcastle's inner streets for over a century, dating to its steelworks days.

The renovation kept what made it worth saving: the pitched gable, the covered front verandah, the picket fence. What changed was everything underneath and that finishing detail. New cladding in a deep blue-grey, white trim throughout, window awning tiling. The garden did a lot of work too, with native coastal planting in front of a white picket fence reads as deliberate without being precious. The result sits comfortably in the street with heritage charm.
